Why Jesus?

Why Jesus? Because He loves you. No matter who you are or what you've done, God loves you! He created you to enjoy a wonderful life here on earth and with Him in heaven. God wants you to know the wonderful plan He has for you. In order to experience God’s plan for your life, there are several important facts you must believe from the Bible:

#1-You must believe that you are a sinner and separated from God.

It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. ~ Isaiah 59.2

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. ~ Romans 3.23

Sin is willful disobedience to God’s plan for your life. We've all chosen to disobey God and go our own way. We are sinful and God is holy. There's no getting around it, we've screwed up. We've tried to do life on our own and now the world is a complete mess. A great gulf separates us and God, a gulf that you can never get rid of on your own. That gulf is sin.

#2-You must believe that there is a penalty for your sin.

This is my rule: The person who sins is the one who will die. ~ Ezekiel 18:4

For the wages of sin is death. ~ Romans 6:23

God is perfect, His heaven is perfect, and therefore He cannot allow any sin whatsoever into it. So as a sinner, you are condemned to spend eternity in hell to pay for your sin. Not very good news. Luckily, that's not the end of the story.

#3-You must believe that your own self-effort cannot bridge the gulf between you and God.

We know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. ~ Galatians 2:16

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. ~ Titus 3:5

Many people think that the gulf which separates them from God can be bridged by good works, religion, church membership, baptism, clean living, and being a good person. However, there is only one payment acceptable in the sight of God…Jesus Christ. He provides the only way back to God and heaven, period. No one gets to God without going through Jesus. How?...

#4-You must believe that Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for your sin.

God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. ~ Romans 5:8

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:21

Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. ~ 1 Peter 3:18

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life. Yet God took all of your sin and placed it on Christ while He was on the cross. God punished Jesus Christ in your place to pay the debt you owed and to bring you to Him. He died so that you would not have to die separated from Him. So now all that is left is...

#5-You must personally receive Jesus Christ as your Savior.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ~ Romans 10:9

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. ~ John 1:12

Receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Savior means to trust Him and depend totally on Him for your salvation. It is believing that He died for your sins, was buried and rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. This is giving your faith to Jesus Christ. The moment this happens you are forgiven of your sins, and given eternal life in Heaven.

When many people make Jesus their Savior and Lord they express their faith to him in a simple prayer similar to this one:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I deserve to die and go to hell. But I do believe that you died on the cross for my sin. Right now I am trusting you to be my Savior. Thank your for forgiving my sin and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life and help me to be a good Christian. Amen.

This is called The Good News for a reason! It is the best news that you will ever hear! Unfortunately, many people hear and accept the good news of Jesus Christ but there lives are never changed. God doesn't just want you to have an incredible life in heaven, but he came to give you abundant life here on Earth. So...

What is next after salvation?

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. ~ Ephesians 2:10

Our good works have nothing to do with securing our salvation. However, once we are saved, God wants our lives to produce good works.

Here are a few things that God wants you to do now that Christ is your personal Savior:

  1. Follow Christ in baptism. Acts 8:35-40
  2. Read the Bible to grow spiritually. Matthew 4:4
  3. Attend a Bible-believing church weekly. Hebrews 10:25
  4. Tell others about Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8

This is "Why Jesus"! This is God's plan for your life. We hope you experience it!
